Abstract

This article explores how digital literacy programs can empower youth in coastal fishing communities facing socio-economic marginalization. Implemented in a coastal village in South Sulawesi, the program provided ICT training, digital storytelling workshops, and mentorship for youth aged 15–24. Employing participatory evaluation and interviews, the study found that digital skills not only improved job prospects but also enabled youth to document and share local culture, voice community concerns, and build networks. The initiative led to increased civic engagement and digital entrepreneurship. The research underlines the role of digital literacy in bridging the information divide and fostering youth leadership in remote areas.
